Want to wipe your web activity clean on your iPhone? Whether you’re troubleshooting Safari or just want a fresh start, clearing your history and website data only takes a few taps. Here’s how to do it on an iPhone 14 running iOS 16.
Clear Safari History and Website Data
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap Safari.
- Tap Clear History and Website Data.
- Tap Clear History and Data again to confirm.
This clears your browsing history, cookies, and other site data stored on your device.
What Gets Deleted (and What Doesn’t)
Deleted:
- URLs of websites you’ve visited
- Safari’s back/forward navigation history
- Frequently visited sites
- Recent searches
- Webpage icons (favicons)
- Cached webpage snapshots
- Website download history
- Sites used for quick search suggestions
- Websites with location or notification access
Not Deleted:
- Saved logins and passwords
- Auto-fill info
- Bookmarks and Reading List
- iCloud Keychain data
So if you’re worried about being logged out of everything—don’t be. This won’t remove your saved passwords or force you to re-enter credentials for most sites.
