To personalize your user profile picture you can use any photo stored in your Mac. You can choose any of the default images or your own photos.
Changing your Profile Picture On MacBook Air Using Default Images
If you would like to swap the default user profile picture that’s set right no on your Mac with another default image then here’s what you need to do.

Change user account picture
- Click on the Apple Icon.
This can be found on the top Apple menu bar.
- Click System preferences.
This will open the system preferences window.
- Click Users & Groups option.
This will show you the users and groups available on your Mac.
- Click your User Name.
This can be found in the left sidebar.
- Hover the mouse on your current profile picture.
This can be found on the main window.
- Click on edit.
This will appear on your profile picture after hovering your mouse on it.
- Choose a default picture.
You can select from Memoji, Emoji, Monogram, or Suggestions.
- Click Save.
This will save the changes you made.
Changing your Profile Picture On MacBook Air Using Custom Images
You can use your own pictures saved in your Apple device as your user profile picture. You can also use any downloaded image as your user picture. Here’s how to do it.
Click on the Apple Icon.
Click System preferences.
Click Users & Groups option.
Click your User Name.
Hover the mouse on your current profile picture
Click on edit.
Choose a picture from Photos which can be found on the left sidebar. Alternatively, you can choose camera to take a picture of yourself to use as your account photo.
Click Save.
Another way to change your profile photo
An alternative method to change your Apple account photo is from the Apple ID setting.
Click on the Apple Icon.
Click System preferences.
Click Apple ID.
Hover the mouse on your current profile picture
Click on edit.
Select from the list of pictures available.
Click Save.
