How to Change the Calendar Start Day on iPhone 14

Want your calendar to start on a Monday instead of Sunday? You can easily change the default start of the week in the Calendar app settings on your iPhone 14. Here’s how to do it in iOS 16, plus a few other useful calendar tweaks you might want to know.

Change the Start Day of the Week in Calendar

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap Calendar.
  3. Tap Start Week On.
  4. Select your preferred day (e.g., Monday, Saturday, etc.).

This change will reflect in the Apple Calendar app and any other app that follows your system calendar settings.

Use a Different Calendar Format

Want to show Chinese, Hebrew, or Islamic calendars alongside the Gregorian calendar?

  1. Go to Settings > Calendar.
  2. Tap Alternate Calendars.
  3. Choose your preferred calendar system.

The alternate dates will show up alongside the standard ones in your Calendar app.

Set a Preferred Time Zone for Events

If you travel often or live in a different time zone from your event schedule:

  1. Go to Settings > Calendar > Time Zone Override.
  2. Toggle it on.
  3. Choose the time zone you want events to use.

This prevents event times from shifting automatically when you travel.

Note About Third-Party Calendar Apps

Some third-party calendar apps (like Google Calendar) follow your iPhone’s system-wide Language & Region settings for the start of the week. So if you’re using another app and the changes don’t take effect, double-check those settings under Settings > General > Language & Region.
