8 Best Video Stabilizing Gimbals For iPhone

The iPhone can take some excellent footage with the new three-lens setup; however, the footage is not nearly as smooth as it could be, and that’s because our own hands, even though they may appear stable, add a level of shakiness to the footage that makes it feel choppy. On top of that, we don’t have the precision ourselves to keep the iPhone on the same plane.
That’s where a video stabilizing gimbals comes in — set your iPhone inside, and motors work to keep your phone stable while filming — it gives you cinema-like quality.

So without further ado, here are a few of our favorite video stabilizing gimbals that you can buy for the iPhone. Let’s get started, shall we?

Best Video Stabilizing Gimbals For iPhone

1. DJI Osmo Mobile 2

DJI doesn’t just have independent gimbals, but they have the traditional smartphone-style gimbal as well. Set your iPhone in the holder of the Osmo Mobile 2, and you’ll get the same great technology found in DJI’s drones for smoothing out your video footage. And just like the Osmo Pocket, has packed the Osmo Mobile 2 with tons of different features.

Set your phone inside, connect over Bluetooth, and then you can start recording professional videos as you’ve never seen before. The Osmo Mobile 2 does have its battery, so when you will want to make sure that it’s fully charged before a day full of filming.

2. DJI Osmo Pocket

If you don’t have an iPhone or don’t like setting your smartphone in a gimbal holder, the Osmo Pocket is a great choice. This bad boy can work independent of your smartphone. The camera is built-in, so you get some outstanding capture quality. It makes it easy to take with you on the go, able to fit in your pocket.

As you can imagine, DJI’s Osmo Pocket has some great hardware inside. It’s a camera on its own. Photos come out gorgeous with the Osmo Pocket, but you can also use it to film in 4K resolution, and at an impressive 60 frames per second.

3. CamKix Stabilizing Hand Grip

If you’re looking for something a little more basic, we recommend going with the CamKix Stabilizing Hand Grip. There aren’t a whole lot of unique features on this one. Any special functions that you want to access — such as panorama, start and stop recording, etc. — has to be started from the phone. There aren’t any shortcuts here.

Now, the one neat thing that the CamKix Stabilizing Hand Grip can do is allow you to record videos from two different angles. This will require two separate recording devices, but you can set your iPhone XR on the phone mount and, say, a GoPro in the camera mount.

4. MOZA Mini-S

If you want the best of the best, you cannot go wrong with the MOZA Mini-S. Set your iPhone inside, and you’ll immediately be able to smooth out and stabilize your video. You’ll be able to show off great video by using this gimbal.

The beautiful thing about the MOZA Mini-S is just how versatile it is — it is compatible with most smartphones on the market today. All you have to do is adjust the clasp to the width of the smartphone. MOZA makes this easy to set up as well — just set the iPhone in the smartphone mount, then, connect over Bluetooth.

5. Movo Smartphone Video Rig

If you need a video stabilizing gimbal to smooth out your video, but also need a tripod-like solution and an external microphone to improve other aspects of your video, you might want to consider the Movo Smartphone Video Rig. This one will use electronic motors to stabilizing your iPhone XR’s footage. Still, you can also connect up the external microphone to improve the audio quality in your video as well. With the iPhone XR, you will need a dongle for the audio jack to fit, but that won’t be too big of a problem.

6. DOBOT Rigiet

Next, we’re looking at the DOBOT Rigiet. If you need a fully-featured video stabilizing gimbal on the cheap, the DOBOT Rigiet is your guy. This one has shortcuts right on the handle to start and stop recording, shutter, auto-tracking, slow motion, panorama, and more. This one operates off of Bluetooth, so you’ll need to connect it to your iPhone XR over wireless before using it. That does mean that it has its battery, which you’ll have to make sure to keep charged for video recording sessions. What we love about the Rigiet the most is that it has an adjustable clasp, which can be adjusted for almost any smartphone available today.

7. Snoppa Atom

The Snoppa Atom comes up last on our countdown, but certainly not least. It’s easily one of the more straightforward options out there but doesn’t have nearly as many features as the DJI Osmo Mobile 2. The iPhone can take some excellent video, but by setting it in the mount of the Snoppa Atom, you smooth video out enough to create something magical.

The Snoppa Atom is one of the more portable choices out there. The overall unit is exceptionally lightweight and easy to store in a backpack, or even just generally to take it with you on the go. It connects over Bluetooth and has 24-hour battery life.

8. Zhiyun Handheld Gimbal

The Zhiyun Handheld Gimbal is an excellent accessory for the iPhone. This one might have fewer features as the Osmo Mobile 2; however, it’s a lovely in-between between low-end and high-end gimbals.

There are small electric brushless motors that work to keep your footage smooth, and there are shortcuts right on the handle for a start and stop recording, zoom, and shutter.

Best Video Stabilizing Gimbals For iPhone Verdict

As you can see, there are some excellent gimbals that you can use with the iPhone. Our favorite comes from DJI — they’re going to provide you with the best experience as far as video stabilization goes. DJI is well-known for its drone camera technology, so naturally, you can expect that same industry-leading technology to be found in their gimbal as well.

So while you can’t go wrong with DJI, the others will provide you a similar experience, but we can’t promise the same innovation there.
