iPhone 7 Plus Keeps Getting Hot

Problem: Hello, I got my iPhone 7 Plus about a year ago, this is my 4th or 5th iPhone, and I am not happy with it at all. The phone constantly getting hot, it has very poor signal, and constantly dropping calls. In the meantime I got another iPhone an SE, and it’s the same problem. Why are iPhones made only for users that live in cities where good signal it’s not a problem. We , who live in rural areas would like to enjoy our iPhone too… my old Blackberry Bold 9900 has full signal and my super luxurious Phone 7 plus has one or two bars. This is very disappointing. What can you do about it? I tried everything that I could find on forums, but nothing helped. Having a poor reception is a common problem with iPhones I see on the forums, they can’t pick up signals. But for BB Bold having a better signal then a 1200 dollar phone.. it’s ridiculous.

Solution: If you are in an area where the signal reception is not good then the phone will provide more power to the antenna to make sure that the signal the phone is getting is within acceptable levels. When more power is used this will make the phone heat up more which is a tradeoff if a smooth operation is required from the phone.

There’s also the possibility that this problem is caused by an issue with the phone. To troubleshoot this problem follow the steps listed below.

  • Try going to an area with great reception then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the issue is caused by the phone boosting power to the antenna when the signal is low.
  • Backup your phone data then restore the phone as a new device. Do not install anything in your phone yet. Try checking first if the issue occurs.

One last option to consider is to bring the phone to the Apple Store and have it checked.

iPhone 7 Plus Overheating When Charging

Problem: iPhone 7 plus is overheating when charging and when location services are turned on. I have searched lots of articles and did what was recommended however it’s still overheating. iOS is up to date, 11.2.1 and I’m considering taking it back to Verizon as I’ve only had it a couple months

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then restore your phone as a new device. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it still does then try the following.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Charge the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.

If the above steps don’t fix the problem then you should have this checked at Verizon.

iPhone 7 Plus Device Is Not Supported When Charging

Problem: Get “This device is not supported” when trying to use any wall or computer connected usb charger.  However the iPhone charges just fine with my charger in my car.   I have tried all the cleaning steps, multiple charging blocks and cords that work with other devices.  This is the 3rd iPhone 7+ I have had with this issue.  Any others out there seeing this?

Solution: Whenever you get a device is not supported issue when charging the phone the troubleshooting steps that you need to do are as follows.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • To eliminate any software glitches you should try to backup your phone data then restore the phone as a new device.

If the issue still persists then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
