While we’ve come across multiple external LED flash units for the iPhone, Anker has just blown them all out of the water with a new Apple-certified (MFi) LED flash for the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro models. While conventional external LED flash units use Bluetooth connectivity to pair and power up the flash, this product by Anker uses a wired mechanism, plugging into the Lightning port of your iPhone 11 or 11 Pro.
It is well-known that using a wired connection for an LED flash will significantly decrease delay, resulting in better illumination for photos and videos. With Apple heavily pushing its “Shot with iPhone” campaign, an accessory like this could come in handy for budding professional photographers.
The LED flash is triggered when it is plugged in and the user opens the camera or other third-party apps with access to flash. It is said that this LED flash can run for 1,000 shots at a time, assuming your iPhone 11 or 11 Pro is on full charge. As compared to the LED flash on the iPhone, Anker claims this LED flash accessory can offer twice the range and 4x the brightness. This LED flash also comes with an option to detach the diffuser.
This accessory will be available on Anker’s store starting next month with a price tag of $49.99. Since this is certified to work with the 2019 iPhones, one can assume that it will eventually make its way to Apple’s online store as well. This makes sense given that Anker also offers other MFi accessories via the Apple Store.
What do you make of this LED flash?
