Update: Apple has since announced the AirPods Pro with a price tag of $249. These earbuds will provide the same battery life as the standard AirPods, which is pretty great. Apple mentions these earbuds will come with a “force sensor” which can help you control background noise transparency as well as the music. As previously reported, the earbuds will be available on October 30.
A rumor earlier this month spoke about Apple launching a refreshed model of the AirPods known as the “AirPods Pro“. It was also stated that this product will feature noise cancellation, a feature that’s lacking in the current model.
Multiple reports are now mentioning that Apple is indeed on its way to release the AirPods Pro with a press meeting already concluded in Shanghai. A well known and reliable source of hardware leaks Ben Geskin gave out the information on Twitter while also showing a render of this headset.
The new AirPods will reportedly come with the model number B298. Further, code within iOS 13.2 beta has previously revealed something called “Focus Mode” which is largely believed to be Apple’s term for the noise cancellation technology used on the new headphones.
It’s also worth mentioning that analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously forecasted the arrival of two new AirPods model, one that matches the description of the AirPods Pro and another due for an early 2020 release bearing design and feature-set similar to the current-gen AirPods.
Reports are currently mentioning that more information will be provided by Apple on October 30. Although rumors are easy to refute, the fact that Apple’s iOS 13.2 beta code has mentioned support for an accessory like this makes us hopeful to see the AirPods Pro on Wednesday.
