Apple Could Release the iPhone SE 2 with iPhone 8 Design and Powerful A13 Processor

According to a report by renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is looking to launch the second iteration of the budget-ranged iPhone SE in early 2020. Kuo further mentions that this device will be as powerful as the current iPhone 11 (A13 Bionic chip) while featuring a design similar to 2017’s iPhone 8.

Considering the fact that the iPhone SE has been around for a while, one would say a refresh is long overdue. So a smartphone like the one mentioned above does make sense. What this also means is that this phone will have a display of at least 4.7-inches akin to the iPhone 8 while there’s also the possibility of this device retaining Touch ID.

A majority of Apple iPhones (with the exception of iPhone 8) currently offer Face ID authentication. So it will be interesting to see if Apple will go with Touch ID or stick to the newer and more reliable face recognition technology.

The analyst failed to provide information on the pricing of the “iPhone SE 2”, but one expects it to be priced slightly lower than the iPhone XR. The arrival of the iPhone SE 2 may also mean the end of the road for the iPhone 8 as 9to5Mac points out.

Since this is only an analyst report at this point, it’s too early to tell if any of this will materialize. But given the nature of the business and the general direction that Apple is heading towards, this seems to fit.

Would you like to see the iPhone SE 2 in the markets?
