To check if iOS 13 is available for update, go to Settings> Tap on General> Software Update.

Tip  2: Delete Apps

As mentioned above, checking the battery life including the usage of apps and activity can help with identifying what apps that needs to be deleted if it is consuming too much of your battery life. Apps that needs to be deleted are those that you find useless or are no longer using for quite some time. The lesser apps on your iPhone, the lesser your battery life it consumes thereby helping your battery life extend.

Tip  3: Force Close Apps

We all know that even though apps are suspended from the background,  there’s still that possibility  that those apps  wakes up in the background to fetch data from the network connection. Thereby, it is advisable to force close apps such as streaming audio and video apps  if you are not using them as this can drain your battery life. Consider disabling background app refresh by following these steps:

  1. Go to Settings from the Home Screen
  2. Tap on General
  3. Locate Background App Refresh and Tap on it
  4. Turn OFF Background App Refresh

Doing so may help preserve battery life because apps can no longer refresh their content in the background when on WiFI or cellular. Although you can also have the option to not totally turn off Background App Refresh app and just opt to choose to disable a particular app for the said feature.

Tip 4: Avoid Charging iPhone to 100%

Battery Technology Experts says that charging your iPhone every time to 100% can actually drains and decreases battery life. Why is this so? The main reason as they say is that the longer charging time is, the aging process of lithium batteries also increases making it less efficient in delivering the intended power for your iPhone device.

It can not be prevented that all lithium-ion batteries degrade its capacity over time no matter what or how your battery usage is. In short, lithium ion batteries also have what we call “Lifespans”, what we as users can do is to extend its lifespan.

To avoid charging iPhone to 100%, you might want to consider enabling Optimized Battery Charging feature, to do this simply:

  1. Go to Settings from the Home Screen
  2. Tap on Battery
  3. Next, tap on Battery Health
  4. Enable Optimized Battery Charging

These feature reduces battery aging because when this feature is turned ON it can wait to finish charging past at least 80% until you need to use your iPhone.

Tip 5: Use Dark Mode

Finally with iOS 13, Apple finally added a new dramatic look, the Dark Mode. It is a system-wide interface control that darkens the background of  installed apps to subtle colors, black & dark gray. Perhaps all those who downloaded the new iOS 13 and chose the Dark Mode display are  now experiencing a more relaxed view on the screen in the backgrounds and since its using an OLED screen, it can help save battery life.

Right after updating to iOS 13, Apple will ask you for an option to switch to Dark Mode. But if you can’t decide as of yet, you can still switch to Dark Mode anytime. To manually enable Dark Mode, simply follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings from the Home Screen
  2. Tap on Display & Brightness
  3. Choose Dark Mode

There is also an option to automatically switch to Dark Mode from Light Mode at a certain time schedule that you can set.

Tip 6: Enable Low Power Mode

Activating Low Power Mode helps extend battery life as it uses less power on your iPhone. It also disables some features i.e. Auto-updates, background refresh and mail fetch that’s set automatically. These feature basically sets to perform a little bit slower than usual on your device until you can fully charge your iPhone.

To enable Low Power Mode:

  1. Go to Settings from the Home Screen
  2. Tap on Battery
  3. Switch On Low Power Mode

You can choose to Turn ON Low Power Mode for as long as you like. Low Power Mode turns Off automatically once charging of your iPhone is at 80%.

Tip 7: Disable Raise to Wake Feature

This feature automatically turns On iPhone display when it is picked up facing towards you. Though this is a very useful feature where you can simply raise your iPhone to wake it for you to look at notifications right away or if you just want to look at the Time. Yes it is useful for some but it can affect and drains battery life especially at times when you’re on the move that you’re unaware that as you move the feature is activating itself more frequently than as expected.

It is then advisable to disable Raise to Wake feature if you want to extend battery life of your iPhone. To do this, simply:

  1. Go to Settings from Home Screen
  2. Tap on Display & Brightness
  3. Tap on Raise to Wake
  4. Toggle Raise to Wake Off

It is however not recommended to disable app features just for the sake of extending your battery life on your iPhone, as those apps can be very useful at one point. And there’s no point in using Smartphone if you aren’t using its features right.
