JBL Charge 3

Everyone loves the JBL Charge 3 Bluetooth speaker, and so do we. The speaker comes in several attractive colors and offers wireless streaming up to 3 smartphones or tablets and a 6000 mAh Li-ion battery capable of powering it for 20 hours of playtime.

If you need to, you can connect a USB cable to the speaker and charge your smartphone or tablet with it. Built into the speaker is a high-fidelity microphone with noise cancellation. Because the Charge 3 is IPX7-certified, you can even fully submerge it in water, and it will keep on playing just fine.

As great as the features and build quality of this speaker are, the main reason why it has received raving reviews across the board is its sound. The JBL Charge 3 has a very loud maximum volume, but its sound quality remains consistent from the lowest to the highest setting.

The star of the show is the massive bass, which is delivered with precision and confidence. Mids and highs sound great as well, which is quite an accomplishment considering the sound waves have to first pass through the waterproof mesh before they can tickle your eardrums.

Libratone One Click

Let’s start with the reason why the Libratone One Click isn’t at the top of this list. Unlike the JBL Charge 3, which is IPX7-certified, the One Click is only IPX4-certified, meaning that it can survive a splash of water but not full submersion like the Charge 3. But apart from this, there’s hardly anything that we can criticize about this speaker.

Thanks to Bluetooth 4.1, wireless pairing is instantaneous, and your music is transmitted in excellent quality and in a very energy-efficient manner, allowing the One Click to play for more than 12 hours on a charge. The speaker comes with two hanging accessories, a hook and a strap, which make it easy to hang or attach it anywhere. It also has a built-in microphone with noise and echo canceling.

Perhaps because the One Click isn’t as waterproof as the Charge 3, its presentation of mids and highs feels more natural and less forced—not that you could notice the difference when showering. The bass is deep and impactful without coloring other audio frequencies.

Beats Pill+

The Beats Pill+ is one of the best speakers that you can use. It may not be great for directly in the shower, but it will have no issue resisting the humidity and moisture in the air from a shower. That said, it’s more ideal for sitting on top of a cabinet or countertop in the bathroom.

Beats has already made quite a name for itself over the years, but one of the most impressive areas is the battery life. With a full charge, you can get a whole 12 hours of juice out of the Beats Pill+.

With a built-in 12.5-watt power supply, the Beats Pill+ stays really loud and clear. It’s perfect for jamming out to your favorite tunes in the shower, or for livening up the music at a party or beach.

Additionally, it actually supports phone calls, so that you don’t actually have to use your phone to have a conversation.

JBL Flip 4

Next up, we’re looking at the JBL Flip 4. This hardware is actually really similar to the Beats Pill+, even right down to the battery life in the speaker. On a full charge, you can get a full twelve hours of battery life out of it. It’s quite easy to hook it up to the charger to get a quick couple hours of juice out of it as well.

You can take your JBL Flip 4 in the shower no problem, because it’s actually equipped with the IPX7 waterproof rating. That said, you don’t have to worry about liquids damaging it — JBL says that you can submerge the Flip 4 in water without harming it.

One of the cool features here is that the JBL Flip 4 has something called the JBL Connect+. This allows you to link together more than 100 JBL speakers that also support JBL Connect+, creating some insane party sounds.

FUGOO Sport XL

The FUGOO Sport XL is larger than other Bluetooth shower speakers on this list because it features 8 acoustic drivers for true 360-degree sound. More specifically, the speaker has 4 Neodymium-magnet tweeters, 2 Neodymium-magnet aluminum-domed mid-woofers, and 2 passive radiators.

All drivers are positioned at an 8-degree upward tilt for better sound dispersion, and they produce up to 38 watts of audio power. With Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity, the FUGOO Sport XL speaker has up to 120 feet of outdoor range and 33 feet of indoor range.

The FUGOO Sport XL has a playtime of 35 hours on a charge, and the speaker can double as a powerbank and charge your smartphone or other electronic devices from its USB port.

A built-in full duplex speakerphone for hands-free communication supports Siri and Google Now, allowing you to control your music with your voice. The FUGOO Sport XL is IP67-certified, which ensures that it can survive in up to 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.

The sound the speaker produces is all about fun, with a distinct V-shaped curve to it. In other words, bass notes and highs are slightly exaggerated to make your music seem more dynamic. Consequently, the FUGOO Sport XL loses some detail in the middle of the frequency range, but not nearly enough for us to be bothered by it.

Ultimate Ears BOOM 2

The Ultimate Ears BOOM 2 is a bold Bluetooth speaker with even bolder sound. To start with, we want to mention that this speaker is available in more colors than we can name here. That’s great news for those of you who have a distinct personal style and would like to own matching electronic devices.

In terms of its construction and features, the BOOM 2 offers IPX7 water resistance, 15 hours of playtime, Siri and Google Now voice integration, and the so-called PartyUp mode, which lets you connect wirelessly to up to 150 Ultimate Ears speakers using the Ultimate Ears app.

The same app also lets you set your preferred EQ settings or activate the Musical Alarm, which does exactly what it says on the tin.

The BOOM 2 is very loud, and its sound signature works great with most music genres. Fans of EDM will appreciate the boomy bass, while fans of pop music may look forward to crisp high and mid frequencies. Overall, the sound of the BOOM 2 is fantastically balanced and versatile.

AYL SoundFit

Our budget recommendation is the AYL SoundFit water-resistant Bluetooth speaker. Because the SoundFit is several times smaller than all other speakers featured in this article, you can’t expect it to help you throw a party, unless your definition of a party is something along the lines of two people sitting quietly across the table from each other.

With its 5 watts of audio power, the SoundFit is meant solely for personal use. You can use it in the shower, while cycling, camping, hiking, or fishing. It connects via Bluetooth 5.1 at a distance of up to 33 feet and can play for 12 hours before it needs to be recharged. Because the SoundFit is IPX5-certified, you can use it even when it rains.

Verdict

As you can see, there are a lot of different Bluetooth speakers that you can use in the shower. Most of these will bring you some really excellent sound quality and allow you to really blast your tunes in the shower.

Some of our favorites are the JBL Flip 4 and the Beats Pill+, as these are speakers that you can rely on for a really long time.
