Renting movies and TV shows — at least digitally — is an extremely expensive hobby. More often than not, you cannot actually rent TV shows, you have to buy it outright. At $2.99 an episode or $20 – $40 per season, that eventually starts to hurt the pocketbook. Luckily, digitally renting movies are a little on the cheaper end of the spectrum, only costing you a couple bucks for a couple-day rental.
Still, not everyone wants to spend hard earned cash on renting movies and buying TV seasons, so how about a way to watch movies on your iPhone XS for free? Here are the best free movies apps for the iPhone XS.
Tubi TV is one of the most top rated ways to watch free movies and TV shows. It isn’t officially available in the AppStore, so you will have to find another way to load it onto your iPhone XS; however, it has one of the largest libraries of free movies and TV shows. The best part is that there’s no subscriptions or credit cards required. Tubi TV constantly has new content being added to it, so you can expect Tubi’s movie and TV arsenal to always stay fresh. The neat thing about Tubi TV is that you can search by category, such as “Not On Netflix” or “Highly Rated On Rotten Tomatoes.”
Find a way to download Tubi TV on your iPhone XS, and you’ll have plenty of great content to enjoy that will last you hours on end.

You might be surprised to see Netflix on our list, but there’s actually a variety of ways that you can get a free Netflix account. The easiest way is to take advantage of their 1-month free trial, in which afterwards, you’ll have to choose a paid subscription to continue watching. Or, if you’re willing to play the e-mail game, you might consider making multiple Netflix accounts to take advantage of multiple months of free trials. In addition to that, phone carriers are also offering promotions that will get you a 12-month free subscription to Netflix. That said, you might want to check out your carrier and see what promotions apply to you in that regard!

Popcornflix is another great one for watching free movies and TV apps. They have hundreds of titles in their library, which will keep you busy for weeks. The only downside is that the video quality in Popcornflix could be better, as it is pretty low quality. You essentially get regular DVD video quality out of it, nothing much better than that.

If you didn’t know already, Sony’s Crackle video streaming service is free to use. You don’t have to pay a subscription fee or enter in any credit cards with it. All you need to do is grab an activation code for your TV or another compatible device, and then you can start watching content for free — don’t go cancelling your video streaming service subscription, though. The one “con” to Crackle is that there isn’t a whole lot of content available on it. You’ll be able to watch TV shows like Seinfeld and The Steve Harvey Show, as well as movies like The Addams Family, Annabelle, The Karate Kid, and more. Sony is always trying to add more content to their service, so it may not stay free forever, but for the time being, it is.

Yidio might be last up on our list, but it’s still a great way to watch movies and TV shows. It doesn’t offer movies and TV shows itself, as it’s more of an aggregator than anything. The benefit to this is that you’ll be able to search over one million titles in its library and pull up almost any movie or TV show to watch. Yidio is also a great place to manage all of your current streaming services so that you’re only dealing with a single app instead of flipping through a bunch at a time.
