How to fix slow Internet browsing problem, websites loading very slowly using Safari on Apple iPad Pro 2018 [Troubleshooting Guide]

Slow browsing problem in mobile devices can be triggered by many factors including temporary network outage, corrupt cache, browser app glitches, and other software-related factors. There are also some instances wherein hardware issues are to blame. Hardware-related browsing problems are usually tied to a damaged router or modem in use. In this case, hardware repair is needed. Software-related browsing problems on the other hand are usually remedied by some workarounds.

This post highlights a few effective solutions and methods you can use to troubleshoot slow-browsing issue on the iPad Pro with Safari browser. Read on for more detailed solutions.

How to troubleshoot iPad Pro 2018 with slow internet browsing issue?

Before troubleshooting, check and ensure that Safari is up-to-date. Updates for built-in iOS apps are usually embedded into every new iOS version released by Apple. That said, installing the latest iOS version available for your iPad Pro will likely be able to fix the issue. Also ensure that you’re not too far away from the router or modem. Websites will usually take time to load if the Wi-Fi signal is poor. To rule that out, use your device near the router or mode. If that doesn’t help either, then you can try these subsequent methods to troubleshoot your device.

First solution: Restart your router/modem.

If you can access your wireless router or modem at the moment, then try restarting it first. Modems and routers also experience minor firmware issues and glitches. This is when Internet-related symptoms instigate. To make sure this isn’t slowing down your Internet connection, follow these steps to restart or power cycle your wireless router or modem:

  1. Press the Power button to turn it OFF.
  2. When the device is turned OFF, unplug it from the AC adapter and keep it unplugged for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  3. After the elapse time, plug it back in then turn it on again.

If your iPhone was set to automatically connect to your Wi-Fi network, just wait for it to re-establish network connection. Once connected, try to launch Safari and see if you can now browse websites faster.

Second solution: Restart your iPad Pro (soft reset).

Your iPad may also be experiencing random software glitches that affect your browsing experience. To clear this out, restarting the phone is recommended. Performing a soft reset or device restart can also help clear cached files and corrupt files from the system memory that might have affected Safari. To restart/soft reset your iPad Pro, simply follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the Side/Power button and either Volume buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.
  2. Release the buttons when the Slide to Power Off command appears and then drag the power off slider to the right.
  3. After 30 seconds, press and hold the Power/Side button again until the iPad reboots.

Third solution: Clear cache and browsing data on Safari.

Browser cache is comprised of temporary files including website information from your previous browsing sessions. A common symptom would be slow browsing or loading of websites take longer than usual. To solve the problem, simply clear the cache and browsing data on your browser app, which in this case is Safari. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. From the Home screen, tap on Settings.
  2. Scroll down and then tap on Safari.
  3. On the next screen, scroll down then tap the option to Clear History and Website Data. You will then see a pop-up message telling you that history, cookies, and other browsing data will be removed in the process.
  4. Tap Clear History and Data to confirm.
  5. Wait for Safari to finish clearing history and website data.
  6. To clear cookies and keep browsing history, go back to the Safari menu, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap on Advanced.
  7. Finally, tap Website Data and then tap the option to Remove All Website Data.

The setting may be unavailable or disabled if there is no history or website data to clear. The same thing can happen if Content & Privacy Restrictions is enabled and web content restrictions are turned on.

Fourth solution: Forget Wi-Fi network then set it up again.

Forgetting Wi-Fi networks often done to clear out network connectivity issues that are attributed to corrupt networks. If you wish to take chances in this method, then here’s how to forget Wi-Fi network on your iPad Pro:

  1. Tap Settings from the Home screen.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is enabled, you will see a list of saved Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Select your Wi-Fi network then tap the information “i” icon next to it.
  4. Tap the option to Forget This Network.
  5. Then tap Forget, if prompted to confirm.

Fifth solution: Reset network settings on your iPad Pro.

Resetting the network settings deletes all your current network configurations along with any incorrect settings and invalid server settings. This will fix the problem if invalid network settings had caused Safari browsing to slow down. Should you wish to give it a shot, then here’s how you do it:

  1. From your Home screen, tap on Settings.

If none of the previous methods is able to solve the problem, then try using other mobile browser apps like Google Chrome instead. There are actually a lot of good browsing apps you can use than Safari. This can help if slow browsing is only isolated to the Safari app.

Contact your Internet service provider to report the problem if none of the aforementioned methods is able to fix it. Slow browsing may also occur among other symptoms of an ongoing network outage or server downtime issues. Better check with your service provider and ensure that the problem isn’t on their end. If you’re currently subscribed to a plan where data capping is implemented, talk to your carrier and make sure that your Internet connection isn’t capped.
