How to create a folder on iPhone XR and move apps to different page

If you want to properly organize your apps, you need to create a folder on iPhone XR so that you can segregate apps according to their functions. By default, the Home screen of your device is somehow a little crowded with bloatware. These are the apps that come pre-installed with your phone but you actually don’t use that much. Some of them can actually be removed or uninstalled while others can’t.

The best way to make the Home screen a little less crowded is to place the apps into a folder or transfer those icons to a different page. Personally, I want my iPhone XR to show the applications I often use when it boots up. That’s the reason why creating a folder is a great help for me and I know it is for you, too. Continue reading below as I will walk you through in creating a folder on your iPhone XR and transferring apps to another page so that the Home screen would look less cluttered.

How to create a folder on iPhone XR

Creating a folder on iPhone XR is a very straightforward process and pretty easy to do. Here’s how…

Step 1: From the Home screen, touch and hold an app. The icons will start jiggling and X marks will be visible on every icon. Be careful not to touch the X mark while moving the app because you may end up deleting it instead of just placing it in a folder.

Step 2: Drag the app onto another app. A folder will automatically be created once this step is done and the default name will be the name of the destination app. You may use the same name but it’s better to change it to something you can easily distinguish.

Step 3: Tap the new folder. This will allow you to change the folder name.

Step 4: Tap the X icon to delete the current name of the folder.

Step 5: Enter a folder name you can easily identify.

Step 6: Tap the Done key to save the change you made on the folder’s name.

Step 7: Tap outside of the folder.

Step 8: Tap Done to save all the changes you make.

If you moved more than 9 applications into the folder you just created, they will be placed in the second page of the folder. Only the first 9 apps will be shown on the folder’s icon in the Home screen. To view other apps, you have to open the folder and swipe to the right to view the second page.

Applications that are inside a folder cannot be deleted all at once. Apple made sure that users can delete or uninstall apps one after another and not by batch. However, if you reset your iPhone XR, the folders you created may also be deleted and all apps inside them will be placed back to their usual locations.

Lastly, if you don’t want to place an app inside a folder, you can move it to another page to make the Home screen more organized. You can drag an app to the right side of the screen to move the app to the next page in that direction. If you only have one page, dragging the app will create a new page.
