How to fix Spotify that often crashes, not working on your Apple iPhone 8 (easy steps)

First solution: Force close and restart Spotify.

Erratic apps are often corrected by a restart. The same thing applies to Spotify. If it’s the first time for Spotify to become unstable, it’s probably just a random glitch, which can easily be remedied by restarting the app. So here’s what you should try doing first:

  1. Swipe up from the bottom to the middle of your screen and hold until the App Switcher opens.

Second solution: Reboot your iPhone (soft reset).

Third solution: Clear recent apps.

And if this happens, there is a tendency for other apps including Spotify to be affected. To make sure this isn’t what’s causing you this trouble, clear all your recent apps with these steps:

  1. Swipe up from the bottom to the middle of your screen and hold until the App Switcher opens.
  2. Swipe left or right to navigate to different apps.
  3. Firmly touch and hold an app, then tap the Minus (-) icon. Doing so triggers the app to quit or close.
  4. Alternatively, you can swipe up to close an app as soon as the Minus icon appears.

Do the same to the rest of the apps until the App Switcher is cleared. To apply the recent changes you’ve made and at the same time, refresh your phone system, perform a soft reset.

Fourth solution:  Install apps updates (if available).

Updates are rolled out to keep apps performing better and stable. Just like your device, apps also receive periodic updates to address whatever bugs or issues that cause apps problems to occur and therefore need to be dealt with. Unless you configured your device to auto-update, you will need to do it manually. Here’s how:

  1. Tap the App Store icon from the Home screen.
  2. From the App Store main screen, locate and tap the Updates icon at the bottom right.
  3. Then tap the Update button next to Spotify.
  4. If you see multiple app updates, you can tap Update All to install all updates at once.

Aside from updating apps, installing software updates can also help stabilizing your apps. Hence it is also worth to consider checking for updates to download and install on your iPhone 8. Fifth solution: Delete and reinstall Spotify on your iPhone.

Clearing apps cache and data in iOS is different from Android devices but the output is the same. In iOS, the process involves deletion and reinstallation of the app. To give it a try, here’s how it’s done:

  1. Tap and hold on the Spotify icon or any icon from the Home screen for a few seconds.
  2. When the icons begin to jiggle, tap the X on the corner of the Spotify app icon. Doing so will delete or uninstall Spotify from your device.
  3. Tap Delete to confirm action.
  4. To stop the icons from wiggling, tap on an empty spot from the Home screen.
  5. Then restart your phone.
  6. Wait until your iPhone has booted up completely then open the App Store and search for the latest version of Spotify to download and install your iPhone 8.
