Problem #1: How to fix your iPhone 8 if Facebook app keeps crashing
I have been having an issue on two different phones. The problem began six days ago on my iPhone 7. A day or so after iOS updated to 11.4. It began slowly at first. Facebook app began to respond slowly or glitches when scrolling. Progressing to finally the screen would blackout for a few moments and then return to the home screen. Double clicking the home button showed the app still running. Sliding it up and reopening the app started it working but usually on for a minute or two. I searched online and found lots of suggestions. Checking for updates on both the iOS and app they were both up to date. I deleted and reinstalled the app several times and that didn’t change anything. Hard reset of phone didn’t fix it. I have two Facebook accounts and multiple devices. An older iPad a windows laptop including the phone. The problem only happened on my main Facebook account on my phone. I could log out of my main Facebook account and log into my other account and it would never crash. In fact when I did log out of and back into my main account I found that would give me the most time to use before crashing. Around ten minutes. I had been wanting a reason to upgrade anyway so I called Verizon and upgraded to an iPhone 8 Plus. Phone has been in use less than 24 hours and the Facebook app First started to glitch and now has started crashing again. The iPhone 8 updated to 11.4 also when I switched over. Is it the Facebook app and the newest update not working? Transferring from one phone to the other it had me put the old phone beside the new one and copied everything over. All the settings. Is it the settings causing it?
Solution: Some iPhones and Android devices did encounter Facebook crashing issues for the past few weeks so yours may be connected to those. There’s also the possibility that it indeed may be caused by your Apple account settings. To check if that’s the case, try to set your phone as a new device and see how Facebook works. Here’s what you want to do.
Factory reset your iPhone
This may be drastic but you need to be able to establish a benchmark. By wiping the phone back to its defaults, you’re eliminating the possibilities of software or other app bugs. We understand you’ve already created a backup of your software information but just in case, make sure to back them up again in either iTunes or iCloud. Then, follow the steps below to factory reset your Iphone 8:
- Open Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Tap Reset.
- Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
- If prompted, enter your passcode.
- Tap Erase iPhone.
Now that you’ve factory reset your device, set it up as a new device. Afterwards, install the Facebook app and see what happens. Be sure not to install any other apps first so you’ll know the difference. Use the phone and the Facebook app for a few hours.

Problem #2: How to fix an iPhone 8 that won’t connect to one wifi only (work wifi)
I have an iPhone 8, and am having an issue with the wifi. I read your response to a similar issue, but my problem is I can connect to wifi without issue when I’m home, or any other wifi connection and only have an issue with the wifi at work. I contacted our IT department and the tech states it must be an iphone issue because he was able to connect without issue, but he has an android. I can successfully connect to the wifi, but when I attempt to actually access the internet or any web based apps I get an error stating there is no internet connection. I’ve been having this problem for weeks now and can only use my phone if i disconnect from the wifi, my text messages will even fail to send if the wifi is on because of the lack of internet connection. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Solution: That your iPhone can connect to your own wifi or other wifi networks is a clear indicator that the problem is not on the device itself. We can’t think of any reason why your iPhone 8 will block internet connection for one wifi network unless you intentionally set it to be so. To be on the safe side though, we suggest that you clear your iPhone 8’s network settings and see what happens. These are the steps on how to do that:
- Tap Settings to open the app.
- Tap General.
- Tap Reset.
- Select the option to Reset Network Settings.
- If prompted, enter the device password.
- Confirm action.
- Connect to your work wifi and check for the problem.
If the problem continues after resetting network settings, work with your IT department to figure out where the problem lies. There may be a restriction set up to prevent your phone from connecting to the internet. Whatever that restriction may be, that’s for the wifi administrator to figure out. Either they’re not telling you the truth (that they’re blocking your iPhone), or there may be an unintentional wifi changes that they’re not aware of at this time.
Problem #3: iPhone 8 Instagram app crashes if opened
I have recently bought an iPhone 8 Plus off my sister and everything has downloaded from my iCloud perfectly fine. However Instagram will not open. When I open the open it flashes white and crashes. I don’t know what to do to fix it. I have tried reinstalling it, updating my phone, deleting my cookies and even factory setting my phone. I don’t know what to do, instagram didn’t reply to my messages. I hope you can help, many thanks.
Solution: We are not sure if there’s any new Instagram issues on iOS devices at the time of this writing but a lot of iPhone users had problems with this app about a month ago. The symtom is basically the same to what you describe here. As far as we know, instagram developer team has already addressed this problem weeks ago so make sure to keep the app up-to-date.
If the Instagram app on your iPhone is the latest, try doing these basic troubleshooting:
Step #1: Delete Instagram from your device
You’ve probably rebooted your iPhone already but if you haven’t, make sure that you do it. Then, If you still have the app in your iPhone 8 right now, delete it.
Step #2: Switch to another network connection
If you’ve been using cellular connection all this time, try to switch to a known good working wifi network or vice versa. The problem may be caused by weak internet connection on your device
Step #3: Reset network settings
If switching to another connection type won’t help at all, make sure that you reset your device’s network settings. Steps to do this are provided above.
Step #4: Reinstall Instagram app
Once you’ve connected to a good working internet connection and wiped the network settings, you can then install your Instagram app again and see what happens.
Step #5: Report the bug
If the problem remains, that means the problem must be on the app itself. Make sure to report the bug to Instagram developer team. If you can’t go to your Instagram profile on your phone, try to visit their web version on your computer at https://www.instagram.com/.
There may not be an immediate fix this issue right away so all you have to do is to wait. You may or may not hear from Instagram about this so just be patient and be sure to check if the issue is resolved by installing the app every day.
We can confirm that Instagram app is working on iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus at this time so this may be an isolated case.
