iPhone X Screen Goes Black

Problem: My phone screen constantly goes black especially when i have it in my pocket. The phone still works as the backlight is still on and message tones can still be heard. The issue is sometimes cured by a hard reset. However most of the time i have to bend or put pressure on the screen which causes the screen to flicker on and off. Eventually after a few mins the screen will remain on but with white/blue lines at the bottom of the screen. Then after a hard reset the lines disappear and the screen is fine as long as i leave my phone on a hard surface or carry it in my hand. It only seems to go off after being in my pocket, maybe something is loose and shakes whilst its in my pocket.

Solution: While this already looks like a hardware related problem you can try to check if this is caused by a software glitch by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Once the reset is complete you will have to setup your phone as a new device. If the issue still occurs then you should bring your phone to the nearest Apple Store and have it checked.

IPhone X Not Turning On After Update

Problem: I had accidentally dropped my phone in some water the other day. It was a quick drop and an immediate pick up – but nevertheless it still dropped. Interestingly, my phone was working for a couple of days after the incident and then after an update my phone completely crashed and now it will not turn on. I have tried holding down the volume button and power button simultaneously, but the logo will appear and it does this over and over again as if it is continually trying to reboot. I cannot get it to turn on and I have reason to believe it is completely DEAD. However, if you have any suggestions that may get it back up and running please let me know.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to make sure that the phone battery has sufficient charge. Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then connect the phone to its charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes. Once the battery has sufficient charge do a force restart.

  • Quickly press and release the volume-up button.
  • Quickly press and release the volume-down button.
  • Press and hold the side button  until the Apple logo appears, and then release.
  • The screen will temporarily go dark as the iPhone shuts down and reboots. Keep holding the button until you see the Apple logo.

In case the above steps does not fix the problem then you will need to have this checked at a service center.
