iPhone 7 Not Turning On After Drop

Problem: Hi, I dropped my Iphone 7 on the floor and when I picked it back up the screen was blank and the phone would not turn on or charge. After a few minutes the phone became really hot. I took it to a local phone shop to see what the problem was, they advised me that the phone is bent, screen is damaged from the inside, the motherboard is damaged and the little chip inside the phone is damaged. (I think it’s the battery not too sure). I then gave my phone in for repairs and was advised that there is a 50/50 chance of it getting fixed. When carrying out repairs to my phone I was advised that the engineer added some part in the phone and the phone turned on but then went off again. The engineer did not continue with the repairs after that as I had told him that the phone is not backed up and I did not want to lose anything in the phone. I am not a phone expert but would like to know if there is a chance of the phone being repaired without losing anything from my phone.

Solution: If the motherboard of the phone is damaged then there’s little chance of recovering the data stored in the phone. It’s also not worth the hassle of having the phone repaired if the motherboard is damaged since it will be much better to get a new phone.

If you have made a backup of your phone data using iCloud then you will still be able to access your phone data.

iPhone 7 Stuck On Error 26

Problem: My iPhone 7 was auto restarting from nowhere whenever I used to open WhatsApp…This continued for a day (intermittently solving by switching off and on the iPhone). Then the last powered off and on and then disabling wifi it was working fine and I was chatting on WhatsApp for about 30 minutes and then suddenly it went off and never rebooted again…was frozen with the apple logo… whatever trouble shooting I tried didn’t work. finally while holding the sleep and home button simultaneously for sometime….then I saw the recovery mode with the ITunes connection icon….and tried for an software update through iTunes connecting to my Mac. It gave an error : “The iPhone could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (26)”….Tried to update through a different computer…still getting the same error. And the recovery screen is frozen now…it’s not going back. Not sure what to do now. This phone is only few months old and under warranty. Unfortunately haven’t taken any backup of my data.

Solution: Listed below are the troubleshooting steps that you need to perform for the error 26 issue that your phone is experiencing.

  • Uninstall iTunes from your computer then download the latest version and install it.
  • Connect the phone to your computer with a USB cord that is known to work. If necessary try using different USB cords.
  • Try restoring the phone.
  • In case the issue persists then bring the phone to the Apple store for repairs.
