First solution: Reboot (soft reset).
One of the first steps in troubleshooting software-related problems in mobile devices is a soft reset or restart. Restarting your device not only clears up the memory but also rectifies minor bugs and software glitches that caused certain apps or the device itself to act weird at times. This method doesn’t affect any of your critical data and personal information stored on your iPhone’s internal storage, thus it’s a safe process to begin with.Here’s how it’s done:
- Press and hold the Power button until the Slide to Power Off menu appears.

If Do Not Disturb mode is enabled on your iPhone 7 and yet you still hear sound, alert, or notifications on certain calls, it’s possible that Emergency Bypass option is turned on. Emergency Bypass is an iOS 10 feature that allows individual contacts to bypass DND mode and have sounds, alerts and vibrations from that specific contact get through to your iPhone even if DND is turned on. You can check your contacts settings to rule this out from the possible causes. Here’s how to access this option:
- Tap to open the Contacts app or Phone app.
- Locate the contact you want to check on and see if Emergency Bypass is enabled.
- Tap Edit.
- Tap Ringtone in the contact information.
- From the Ringtone menu, you should see Emergency Bypass option.
- If necessary, toggle the switch next to Emergency Bypass to turn the feature OFF. It has to be turned off to prevent sounds, alerts, and vibrations from the selected contact while on DND mode.
Restart your iPhone 7 after applying new changes to your iPhone settings then see if everything is already working as intended.
Fourth solution: Reset all settings.
Sometimes recently applied changes may cause conflict. This is likely the case if the issue just occur suddenly after changing some settings on your iPhone 7. Reverting the settings back to the previous configuration can be a prompt remedy given that you’re certain of which setting or option has to be reverted. Otherwise, it will be a bit of a challenge. As alternative solution, you may opt to reset all settings on your iPhone 7 instead.
