Problem 1: iPhone X won’t charge when texting
I bought new iPhone X today. While i charge my iphone, If someone text me or call, then charging will automatically turns off. Then again, it will start charging until i restart the iphone. What’s this problem? Please help me. — Shahbaz Soomro
Solution: Hi Shahbaz. Your iPhone X is supposed to continue charging even if you use it when texting. There maybe a problem with the charging cable, adapter, or the phone itself. Bring it back to Apple or to the store where you bought it from and see if they can replace it. You don’t want to be bothered doing troubleshooting for a newly purchased iPhone X.
If returning the phone is out of the question, consider wiping the phone first and see how charging works when you’re charging. To factory reset your iPhone X:
- Create a backup of your important files to iTunes or iCloud.
- Tap Settings from Home.
- Tap General.
- Tap Reset.
- Select the option to Erase All Content and Settings.
- If prompted, enter your passcode to continue.
- Tap Erase iPhone to confirm action.
With your iPhone X software now back to its known working state, any software bug possibly causing the problem should be eliminated. Make sure that you don’t install any app before testing how charging works when you’re texting.
If your iPhone X continues to have the same problem, contact Apple for a phone replacement.
Problem 2: iPhone X won’t turn back on after accidental drop
Today my iPhone X fell. i picked up… it was working properly after falling but after few seconds it got switched off and then when i was trying to power it on, it was not even showing the Apple logo. I’m basically Indian but i bought my phone from USA. — Aman Sapra
Solution: Hi Aman. A normally working phone which stopped working all of a sudden after it accidentally fell has an obvious hardware malfunction. Even if the phone is perfectly fine outside, the unnecessary shock may have damaged critical components inside such as the battery or the motherboard. Unless you are a trained iPhone X technician, there’s no way you’ll be able to fix the problem on your end.
If your iPhone is still under warranty, you may be able to get it fixed for free. Keep in mind though that any visible defect due to misuse (like scratches, dents, break in the case) can void the warranty. This means that Apple will not repair the device for free at all. Depending on the problem, you may still be able to let them fix the phone for you for a fee.
There’s obviously no software fix for you in this case. You can’t just tweak the software and wait for, say, the battery to fix itself. We don’t know what your expectations are when you contact us about this problem but we’re sorry to disappoint you. Hardware malfunction can only be fixed with repair. A technician needs to physically examine the device in order to conduct thorough hardware diagnostics. Unless you know how to do that, you’re better off letting a professional do the repair for you.
Problem 3: iPhone X gets stuck in Apple logo screen, won’t boot normally when not connected to charger
Hello. I have been having issues with my iPhone X. The problem with it seems to be that when my battery drops to about 50-60 percent, my phone will begin to lag horribly. It will then proceed to go to the white Apple logo. Once it gets to this point I canâ€™t get out of it even by holding the power button and the home button at the sameness time. If I keep doing that itâ€™ll start switching from a black screen to the Apple logo and flicker back and forth between the two. It will continue to do this until my phone battery is drained and the process kills the rest of my battery within a couple minutes of doing this (maybe 5-10 minutes). I have discovered the only way to get my phone out of this loop would be to connect my phone to my charger and then it will boot up properly and I can resume usage. — Javier
Solution: Hi Javier. This is either a battery issue or a software glitch so we recommend that you recover the software first and see what it does. If you’ll be unable recover the software for whatever reason, consider doing it in DFU Mode, especially if your phone gets stuck in Apple logo screen again.
To recover the software in DFU mode, kindly do these steps:
- From the computer, close any open apps.
- Open the iTunes app on the computer.
- Connect the iPhone to the computer via the USB cable. Ensure the iPhone is powered off.
- Press and hold the Side button (power/sleep/wake) for 3 seconds.
- While continuing to hold the Side button, press and hold the Volume down button (left side). Continue to hold both buttons for 10 seconds; if the Apple logo appears on the screen, you have depressed the buttons too long and need to start over.
- Release the Side button but continue to hold the Volume down button for an additional 5 seconds. If the screen on your iPhone stays black, your phone is in DFU mode; if you see the “Plug into iTunes” screen, retry steps 4 through 6.
To know if your iPhone has been connected to iTunes properly, look for an alert on the computer telling you iTunes has detected your iPhone and follow any additional prompts to complete recovery.
Remember, Software Recovery can only do so much. If the problem continues after doing it consider contacting Apple for repair or replacement.
