  • Disconnect your iPhone from the computer when the installation completes.

Check and ensure that AMD USB driver is installed

If the error persists and that your iPhone 7 is still not recognized in iTunes, check the Device Manager and see if the Apple Mobile Device USB driver is installed. To open or access Device Manager, follow these steps:

 

  • Press the Windows and R keys on your keyboard to open the Run command screen.
  • Enter devmgmt.msc in the Run command window, then click OK. Doing so will open the Device Manager.
  • Locate and expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section. Just click on the arrow.
  • Look for the Apple Mobile Device USB driver.
  • If you don’t see it or you see Unknown Device, try to connect your iPhone to the computer with a USB cable or connect it to a different computer.

 

If you see the Apple Mobile Device USB driver with an error symbol, exclamation point, or question mark next to it, try to restart the AMDS or Apple Mobile Device USB service on your Windows computer. Here’s how:

 

  • Close iTunes and disconnect your iPhone from it.
  • Access the Run command by pressing the Windows logo and R key simultaneously on the computer keyboard.
  • Type services.msc in the Run command screen and then click OK. Doing so will open the services console screen.
  • Right click on Apple Mobile Device Service and click Properties in the shortcut menu.
  • Set the Startup type pop-up menu to Automatic.
  • Click Stop the service.
  • Click Start the service after the service has stopped.
  • Click OK.
  • Restart your computer.

 

After the restart, open iTunes and connect your iPhone 7 again.
