In this latest installment of the series we will tackle the iPhone 6 text alert tone randomly reverts back to default issue which one of our readers is experiencing.
What happens in this scenario is that despite customizing the text alert tone of certain contacts in the phone it will revert back to the default tone. This has puzzled one of our readers who sent us the concern below.
If you own an iPhone 6 or any other iPhone model for that matter then feel contact us using this form. We will be more than happy to assist you with any concern that you may have with your device. Problem: when I use text alert tones that I have downloaded from the iTunes store – I have specific ones assigned to certain people. Sometimes, they will randomly revert back to the default text alert noise, and then for no apparent reason they will work again properly. It’s more of a nuisance than anything but maybe there is a fix for this?
Solution: Several other people who own this device are also experiencing this same issue. It appears to be some sort of software glitch so the first thing that you should do is to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software update.
The next thing that you should do since you purchased the tones from the iTunes store is to not download the tones directly to your phone. Instead, download the tones to your iTunes library first then sync your phone.
- In iTunes go to Store then View Account (you will need to enter your password)
- Scroll to “Purchase History” click on “See All”
- Click on the arrow next to the ringtone purchase
- Click on Report a Problem
- Select the tone you want to report the problem with and select “Song did not download”
- Fill in the description and submit.
- Repeat for any other purchased tones
- Go into iTunes and click on “Store” and click on “Check for downloads”
- The tones will now be in your iTunes library and you can then sync them to your iPhone.
That’s all for this week. We hope that this troubleshooting steps helps you when you encounter this very same problem.
