5C Slow on Wi-Fi after iOS 8 Update

Problem: Hi, I have an iPhone 5C which I recently updated to iOS 8. Now right after the update I noticed that whenever I connect to the Internet using Wi-Fi it is very slow. The problem does not occur when I am using my mobile data. I’d rather use my Wi-Fi when I am at home than eat up my mobile data. Is there any way to fix this?

Solution: This is probably one of the several issues owners of iPhone devices are facing after they have updated their phone. This does not affect all phone’s though but for those affected by this problem it is a problem.

To troubleshoot this issue you should first determine if it is only your phone that is experiencing this issue when connected to your Wi-Fi or if other devices are experiencing it as well. If all your devices are slow then it must be a router or an ISP issue.

If it is only your phone that is slow while connected to your Wi-Fi then follow the torubleshooting steps below.

  • Be sure you’re in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).

  • Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.

  • Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.

  • Restart your iOS device.

  • Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you’re connected.

  • Tap and Forget this Network.

  • Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network. (You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.)

  • Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.

  • Update your device to the latest version of software.

  • Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.

If the problem still persists then perform the following steps

  • Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).

  • Check for sources of potential interference.

  • Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.

  • Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings

As a final step you can check if there are any new software updates available for your device. Update your phone to the latest software version.

5C Won’t Charge After iOS 8.02 Update

Problem: Help! Please!!!!nMy iPhone 5C stopped charging after the newest 8.02 Update. I’ve tried everything! It just won’t charge with Apple or off off brand chargers.

Solution: The first thing to consider when your phone is not charging is whether the USB cable or the wall charger used has a problem. You mentioned that you have already tried various chargers but your phone still won’t charge. Have you tried connecting your phone to a PC to check if it will charge or be detected?

Try to clean the charging port of your phone and your charger of any dirt or debris. This may interfere with the charging process. 5C Battery Drain Issue On iOS 8.02

Problem: Three days ago, I moved forward from iOS 7.1.2 to 8.0.2 but the biggest change I noticed concern my autonomy. For example, I lost an average of 12% each night although all is off, no apps are turning, wifi is off etceteras. Furthermore, when I go to Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage “Home & Lock screen” reach to almost 30%! So, I’m asking how is it possible? My autonomy has always been clear, I could last nearly 36 hours without charging which – I think – enough. Thanking you in advance.

Solution: One of the common problems a lot of iPhone owners are facing when they update their device to iOS 8 is the battery drain issue. It appears that the new software has not been properly optimized to conserve power. The good news is that there are several steps that you can take to resolve this issue.

  • Turn off Location Services: Several apps use your phone’s GPS feature to function properly however they do this even if you are not using the app. By turning off location servcies you effectively reduce the amount of power your phone consumes when on standby mode.

  • Turn off Background app and content refresh: Certain apps may need to be updated with fresh content every minute. This refresh however comes at a price of eating your battery life.

  • Turn off Push Notifications: If you don’t really need to be alerted of any new app notification as soon as it arrives simply turn push notifications off.

  • Set Auto-Lock to 1 minute

  • Turn off any extra sounds, like keyboard clicks

  • Turn down the screen brightness

  • Turn off Bluetooth when not in use

  • Turn off Wi-Fi when not in use

  • Set all email, calendar, and contacts accounts to “Fetch”

  • Turn off Dynamic Wallpapers

Every time I try to reply to someone message, it with either close the app and open a different one that was previously opened. It’s spelling correct words wrong. It is typing two letters at the same time even though im only pressing one of them. It’s just starting to get annoying. Can you please do something to fix this? I have tried restarting my phone and nothing has changed.

Solution: to resolve this issue you should try to reset your phone. To reset just hold down the Sleep/Wake button and Home button at the same time for ten seconds. When you see the Apple logo appear on the screen release the buttons. The reset is now complete.

The phone started the reset and then got stuck on the apple logo. every now an then the screen goes blank and then returns to the apple I have tried to reboot and the off switch. Niether work. I have tried to connect to my laptop but the laptop can’t see it. The only remaining option i have knowledge of is to let the battery run flat and see what happens when i recharge but I don’t hold out much hope. Any ideas what is going on and what i should do?

Solution: Your best option right now is to enter Recovery Mode to restore your phone. To access Recovery Mode follow the steps outlined below.

  • Turn off your device and leave it off.

  • Plug in your device’s USB cable to a computer with iTunes.

  • Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.

  • When you see this screen, release the Home button. If you don’t see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.

  • When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You’ll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.

  • Use iTunes to restore your device. Restoring in recovery mode will erase your device. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you might be able to restore from your backup.

  1. After reading all above, I have an iPhone 6 with the same problems. So…it is not limited to the 5c and it most likely is the iOs 8.02.
