Intel’s new low priced Yolo smartphone for Kenya

Intel Yolo Android Smartphone

With the plans of coming out of the desktop computer market, the world’s largest chip manufacturer, Intel, is working very hard to make a place for itself in the mobile phone industry. And it looks like it is doing well, it came up with a new family of microprocessors for the smart phones, and now, it’s come out with a whole new smart phone. Yes, we are talking about thenew Intel Yolo, which is an Android smart phone aimed at Kenya.

The Yolo Android smart phone is a budget friendly, entry level smart phone which gives its users a bit of everything. The smart phone is not very high end on the hardware, as the company had to sell it at a retail price of $125. Even so, the smart phone comes with a single core 1.2 GHz Intel Atom processor, which I think is pretty good if you are not planning on playing a lot of high graphic games or run too many apps in parallel.

The Yolo smart phone also features 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of built in storage. The RAM is a bit low, we can agree on that. But if you think the built in storage is also low, you can expand it with a microSD card, as the smart phone has a microSD card slot which supports cards of up to 32 GB capacity.

The Intel Yolo smart phone comes with a data plan as well, in which you get a free usage of 500 MB. The smart phone offers HSPA+ connectivity, which means you can get pretty high speed internet on this device. But the only other drawback (apart from the RAM), is that the screen is tiny 3.5 inch 320 x 480 pixel display. This is a very small display unless you are coming from an ancient age and a phone with monochrome display.

The Intel Yolo smart phone is running Android 4.0.4 operating system, which is also known as Ice Cream Sandwich, out of the box. And the 5 mega pixel camera on the rear of the smart phone is capable of recording 1080p videos. And to the smart phone’s credit, it did outperform the first generation Samsung GALAXY Note on the AnTuTu Benchmark site.

So what are you waiting for? If you can get your hands on one of these, do it.
