iPhone 6 Flashes Red/Shuts Down

Problem: My iphone 6 will flash a red screen then shut down. When i try to turn it back on it will flash the logo a few times. what is going on? what do i need to do to get it fixed?

Solution: The first thing that you should do in cases like this is to reset your phone. To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

If the issue persists then try restoring your phone using iTunes.

  • Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
  • If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
  • If the device doesn’t appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.

If the above steps fails to resolve the problem then you should bring your phone to the Apple Store for checking.

iPhone 6 Camera App Freezes

Problem: I have an iphone 6 with the latest software installed after the last update have noticed the camera app crashes? Sometimes it will just freeze, the most common symptom is when I try to play a movie I have taken it just freezes? Just curious if anyone else is having this problem? do you think its software or hardware?

Solution:  The first thing that you should do in cases like this where an app crashes is to do a soft reset of your phone. This procedure basically clears the memory of your phone giving it a fresh start.

  • Press the home and power buttons simultaneously
  • The slide to turn off the iPhone comes up but do nothing but hold the buttons down
  • The iPhone powers down with the screen going blank. Keep holding the buttons still and then the iPhone reboots with the Apple logo coming up on the screen

In most cases the issue should be resolved after following the procedure above.

If the issue persists then you should consider restoring your phone as a new device. There may be certain apps installed in your phone that is causing a conflict with the camera app and the quickest way to check if this is the case is by doing a factory reset. Just be sure to backup your phone data before proceeding.

  • Connect your iOS device to your computer using the cable that came with it.
  • Select your iPhone when it appears in iTunes. In the Summary panel, click Restore.
  • Click Restore again to confirm that you want to restore your device to factory settings and delete all data and content. iTunes will download the iOS software file and restore your iOS device.
  • After your iOS device is restored to factory settings, it will restart. Once it does, you’ll see the “Slide to set up” welcome screen. Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. You can set up your device as new.

iPhone 6 Not Connecting To Car Bluetooth

Problem: I just want to add my name to the hundreds or maybe thousands of people who have problems connecting the 6 to the car’s bluetooth.  Need Apple to see number of complaints and fix bug asap. I Have a 2010 Toyota Highlander that worked fine with 4s; my new 6 connects to other bluetooth devices but cannot even ‘find’ the device.  It found it for about one second a day ago, but couldn’t pair it. Now, it just can’t even find the device anymore….Have tried all usual fixes supplied by other readers.

Solution: First, make sure that your phone is running on the latest software update. These updates come with improvements and bug fixes that may help resolve this issue. Also make sure to use the latest firmware for your car Bluetooth device.

To troubleshooting this issue usually revolves around resetting your phone settings. To do this, open Settings and go to General >> Reset >> Reset All Settings.

iPhone 6 Touch ID Not Working When Charging

Problem: My touch Id is not working when my IPhone 6 is charging. If I unplug it, it start to work normally. Any other user have this same issue? Thank you.

Solution: This is one common issue that is being experienced by owners of this device. First make sure that your phone does not have any accessories installed such as a screen protector or a casing. Next, only use the official cable and wall charger when charging your phone.

To troubleshoot the issue try deleting all fingerprints stored in your phone then add them again.

If the issue persists then backup your phone data and perform a factory reset then restore your data from backup. Add your fingerprints again.

If it still does not work then do another factory reset but this time do not restore from backup but instead setup your phone as a new device.

If after following the above steps the problem still remains then you should bring your phone to the nearest Apple Store for checking.

iPhone 6 Black Display/Not Responding

Problem: My iphone 6 screen is black and is unresponsive to home key or lock button. Phone is powered on and will ring, but no display. I have tried powering it off, but it will not respond. What do I need to do?

Solution: What you should o first in cases like this is to plug in your device to a power source. If you see the low-battery screen when you plug in, let your device charge for at least 10 minutes before using it.

If the problem still occurs the try resetting your phone while it is still plugged in. To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

If resetting does not help then restore your phone.

Before restoring your phone make sure to accomplish the following

  • Make sure you’re using the latest version of iTunes.
  • Use iTunes to back up your device. Transfer and sync any additional content to your computer.
  • Turn off Find My iPhone in Settings > iCloud on your device to disable Activation Lock.

To restore your phone

  • Connect your iOS device to your computer using the cable that came with it.
  • Select your iPhone when it appears in iTunes. In the Summary panel, click Restore.
  • Click Restore again to confirm that you want to restore your device to factory settings and delete all data and content. iTunes will download the iOS software file and restore your iOS device.
  • After your iOS device is restored to factory settings, it will restart. Once it does, you’ll see the “Slide to set up” welcome screen. Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. You can set up your device as new or using a previous backup. If your iOS device has cellular service, it will activate after you restore.

If the issue persists then you should contact Apple Support.

iPhone 6 Does Not Backup To Cloud

Problem: I am running 8.1.2 on an iPhone 6. I have 155 GB of iCloud storage free. I have three other devices that are backing up to iCloud regularly (they all backed up in the middle of this past night). There are also backups for two old devices being stored in iCloud. I am not using iCloud Drive on any devices. The problem is my iPhone hasn’t run a successful backup since 11/27 (that was 8.1.1, maybe? I’m not sure). I’ve tried to manually run the backup, and it starts fine but then stops with no error message. I’ve tried it plugged in, on wifi, and with the screen locked (after manually kicking off the backup), and it fails (also fails with the screen unlocked, unplugged, etc). And every night, it’s on wifi/locked/plugged in. No dice. I’m hesitant to remove the existing backup that’s up there since it’s the only one I have (even if it’s 6 weeks old). Any thoughts? I’ve googled a lot over the past few weeks but haven’t found any posts/articles about this exact issue. All the ones I’ve seen have been about people receiving messages about their iCloud storage being full, but I’m not getting any messages like that. Or any messages at all. Bah. Thank you in advance!!

Solution: Have you tried doing the backup using another Wi-Fi connection? Try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi connection first and see if the issue is still the same. If the problem disappears then t is most likely caused by your Wi-Fi connection.

iPhone 6 Intermittent Loss Of Sound

Problem: Hi, My handset has just recently started loosing sound via the speakers/headphones….totally.  The phone is up to date on iOS8, it is always in a case and is very much looked after.  It hasn’t been dropped or exposed to water (other than a few drops of rain when I had to make a call.)  Handset purchased Oct 14. The first time this happened I put it down to a minor glitch and tried a soft reboot (power/menu button)…this did not work, I tried resetting via “GENERAL/RESET ALL SETTINGS”.  Again, this did not work.  So, I decided to restore the phone to new via iTunes.  Result.  All working. This has now happened on 4 or 5 different occasions.  This is getting a little tiresome.  On one other occasion I have had to do the time consuming restore via iTunes…but mainly a soft reset has resulted in the sound coming back. Has anyone else experience this and I am assuming that it will be best to travel to my nearest store for checking. If deemed faulty, will the handset be repaired or replaced?? Thanks.

Solution: You should try doing a factory reset then set up your phone as a new device. If the issue does not occur then it may have been caused by certain data from the backup has been damaged.

If the problem still occurs despite setting up your phone as a new device then this may already be hardware related. You should bring your phone to the nearest Apple Store for checking.

iPhone 6 Usage/Storage Error

Problem: I have a 16 GB iPhone 6. Even with zero photos or videos on my phone, the data manager says I have 4.3 GB in my Photo Library. Restoring the phone does not change this so I basically can’t access 25% of the phone’s storage. Is there a fix for this and how is this even possible?

Solution: Try restoring your phone and setting it up as a new device. There may be some data glitch that is present in your phone making it think that the photo library has 4.3 GB of photos and videos stored.

iPhone 6 Not Charging

Problem: I have iPhone 6 – 8.1.2– when I plug it in for charging nothing happens. I have tried computer- i have tried wall charger. I have tried using an eraser on the pins of the chord to clean them. any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Solution: Perform the following troubleshooting steps as suggested by Apple to resolve this issue.

  • Look at the connector at the bottom of your device and make sure it’s free of debris.
  • If you’re using a USB power adapter, make sure it’s plugged in all the way and the power outlet is working. If you’re connecting to a computer, make sure it’s on and can charge your device.
  • Try a different USB cable, USB power adapter, or USB port.
  • If everything seems to be working, reconnect your device and wait for 30 minutes.
  • If your device still doesn’t charge, try to restart it while it’s connected to power. If you can’t restart, reset your device.
  • If your device still doesn’t charge or you still see an alert after trying the steps above, contact Apple Support.
