5C Types On its Own

Problem: My iPhone 5c is very glitchy keeps typing stuff that I don’t want and submits without me clicking anything! It also takes me to random pages within the browser and sometimes doesn’t let me click at a certain point on the screen is it running very slow. Do you have any ideas with what could be wrong with it? I’ve only had it a few months.

Solution: The best case scenario is that this may just be a software glitch that can easily be resolved by restoring the phone. The worst case scenario is that this may be hardware issue in which case you should bring your phone to the nearest hardware store.

To check if this is just a software glitch make sure to meet the following requirements below.

  • Make sure you’re using the latest version of iTunes.

  • Use iTunes to back up your device. Transfer and sync any additional content to your computer.

  • Turn off Find My iPhone in Settings > iCloud on your device to disable Activation Lock.

To restore your phone

  • Connect your iOS device to your computer using the cable that came with it.

  • Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes. In the Summary panel, click Restore.

  • Click Restore again to confirm that you want to restore your device to factory settings and delete all data and content. iTunes will download the iOS software file and restore your iOS device.

  • After your iOS device is restored to factory settings, it will restart. Once it does, you’ll see the “Slide to set up” welcome screen. Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. You can set up your device as new.

If after setting your phone as a new device the issue still persists then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest that you bring your phone to the Apple Store for checking.

5C Does Not Charge When Turned On

Problem: My iphone 5c will not charge when its on…. Tried holding at same time home button and power button, apple logo appeared at 7 secs but still it did not help. Its still not charging. Please help. Thank you very much.

Solution: Before troubleshooting this issue make sure that you are using the original wall charger when charging the phone. Also, it is much better to charge from the wall outlet than from a USB port.

The first thing that you need to do in cases like this is to check both the charging ports of your phone and the charger. Sometimes there may be dirt or debris that may accumulate which may affect the charging process. If you spot any then clean it using a toothpick.

Next, make sure that all connections are plugged in tightly. Check the wall charger to and make sure it is plugged tightly to the wall. Also check the connection between your phone and charger.

Try to leave your phone charging for 30 minutes and see if the charging indicator comes up. If it doesn’t then replace your charger and charger cord with another one.

If the problem still persists then you should restart your phone.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.

  • Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.

  • After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

If restarting does not help then you should reset your phone.

  • You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can’t restart it.

  • To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

5C Restarts When Charger Is Plugged

Problem: I recently just got an iPhone 5c online. Every time i plug the charger into the phone it reboots for some reason, even when the charger is not connected to an outlet. Also, when i unplug the phone from the charger it reboots. Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Solution: First make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. These updates usually comes with improvements and bug fixes that may help resolve this issue. Next, try using a different charger on your phone and see if the problem still occurs.

If it still does then this may already be a hardware related issue that concerns the phone itself. There may be some components that are gts shorted when the charger is connected causing the phone to reboot. Your best option is to bing the phone to the nearest Apple Store for checking.

5C Does Not Tun On

Problem: Basically, my phone died last night. I tried to charge it and it still won’t come on. Ive tried holding the power button and the home button together and nothing happens, even if I plug it into iTunes nothing comes up, it doesn’t even connect to it.. I’ve left it on charge for a few hours thinking it might help but still nothing.. Can someone help Please?

Solution: If your phone does not tun on the first thing that you should ty is to reset it.

  • You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can’t restart it.

  • To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

If resetting the phone does not work then you should try to restore your phone using iTunes. Make sure that you have a backup of your phone data before proceeding otherwise all data in your phone will be lost.

  • Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.

  • If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

  • If the device doesn’t appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.

If your phone still does not start then this may be a hardware related issue. Bring your phone to an Apple Store for further checking.

5C Has Error 16 Issue

Problem: My iPhone said searching in the top left corner friday. I was told to restore it. When i did it stops when restoring the firmware on the phone and error 16 pops up. I’ve updated itunes and my os software but nothing has worked. It continues to stay on recovery mode. Anyone know how i can fix this?

Solution: The error 16 message usually pops up when you attempt to restore your phone and is usually a hardware related error that concerns either the phone or the computer. Below are the steps that you need to do to resolve this issue.

  • Check that your security software and settings aren’t preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.

  • Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.

  • Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.

  • If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

5C Only Vibrates, Does Not Ring

Problem: Why does my iPhone 5c not ring only vibrate since latest ios update. DND is not on.

Solution: Several owners of this phone have experienced this issue as well. In most cases it is just a setting related issue while in others it is abit more complicated. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve this issue.

  • Go to Settings > Sounds and drag the Ringer And Alerts slider to turn the volume up.

  • Go to general> accessibility> assistive touch> device> unmute.

  • Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is set to ring. If you can see orange, it’s set to silent.

  • Restart your device.

  • Open an app that has music or sound effects. Adjust the volume with the volume buttons or the slider in Control Center.

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth.

  • If there’s still no sound, connect a headset. If you can hear sound through the headset, remove it and clear any dust or debris from the headset jack of your device.

  • If the device is in a case, make sure that the case doesn’t block the speaker.

  • Use a brush to gently clear any debris from the speaker and Lightning connector (or 30-pin dock connector). The brush should be clean and dry and have soft bristles.

  • Update your device to the latest version of iOS.

If the issue persists then this may already be a hardware related problem. You should bring your phone to the nearest Apple Store for checking.

5C Not Recognized By iTunes

Problem: My iPhone 5c is not recognized by iTunes when I plug it in, however I know that the USB port is not faulty because my computer recognizes the device. My laptop is running Windows 8.1. I’ve gone through the Apple support documents for this issue with no luck. My iPhone is running the latest update, IOS 8.1.1, and my phone is also up to date.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do when your phone is not recognized by iTunes os to restart your phone and computer. Once both devices have fully booted up do not connect your phone to the computer yet.

What you need to do first is to uninstall iTunes then reinstall a fresh copy from the Apple website. Once iTunes has successfully installed connect your phone to the computer using a new cable. If this is the first time that your phone will connect to your computer make sure to set the trust level.

  • Connect the computer or other device to your iOS device.

  • If your iOS device is locked with a passcode, unlock it.

  • Tap Trust

  • If you’re about to sync the device with iTunes, click Accept.

If the issue still persists then check if the Apple Mobile Device Support has been installed in your computer.

  • Move the cursor to the upper right corner and click the magnifying glass.

  • Type Control Panel, and press Return.

  • Click “Uninstall a program.”

  • Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is visible in the list of currently installed programs.

If you don’t see it listed under your installed apps then you will have to uninstall iTunes again and reinstall it. You might also want to try to temporarily disable any security software that your computer has as thi may be interfering with the connection between your phone and iTunes.

5C Rear Camera Not Working

Problem: So put simply my the rear camera on my 5c isn’t working anymore. If I click on the camera app all the functions are available but the actually viewing area is black. I can rotate the camera to the front and it works fine, but if I then rotate it back the image area either 1. goes black or 2. has a very very blurred image from the front camera and then becomes unresponsive causing me to force shut down the app. This has happened once before but only lasted a day. Unfortunately this time it has lasted 3 days and nothing has happened.

Solution: Most of the cases that deal wit this type of issue are caused by a faulty hardware. If this is the what is happening to your phone right now then you might want to bing it to the nearest Apple Store fro checking.

Before bringing your phone you can perform the troubleshooting steps below to eliminate any software relate causes.

  • Make sure that there’s nothing blocking the camera lens. If you’re using a case, try removing it.

  • Force the app to close, then open the Camera app again.

  • Restart your device, then open the Camera app again.

  • If your device has a front and rear camera, try both cameras by tapping the camera swap icon. If you see the closed lens or black screen on only one camera, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.

5C Can’t Be Restored

Problem: I have a 3 week old iPhone 5c and it has been needing to reset quite frequently which is an issue in it’s self. But now it won’t even let me reset it. I went to my provider and they said to go to apple. I went to apple store and have an appointment for 2 days. It is very frustrating because i need it for work and i work tomorrow. I won’t have it for then. Now i found some advice online to get it activated. I did this and on iTunes it said it was in recovery mode and needed to be restored. It did all this loading and then came up with ‘unknown error occured’. It is so annoying and I’m loosing my patience – brand new phones surely shouldn’t act this way?

Solution: The unknown error issue that occurs when you try to restore your phone is caused by various factors. These error messages have a specific number which gives you a clue as to what the problem really is. Normally, restoring your phone should resolve any issues that it is facing as long as it is software related.

Since you already have an Apple Store appointment then it best to let them handle this issue so that they can also check the hardware side of things.

5C Payment Source Issue

Problem: I Tried downloading games with payment and I was able to download it. Now I’m not able to update my apps due to payment source error. Please help me fix this. Thanks!

Solution: When you get a payment error on your phone then the best thing to do is change the payment information on your phone.

  • In the Home screen, tap Settings.

  • Tap iTunes & App Store.

  • Tap your Apple ID. (You might need to sign in with your Apple ID.)

  • Tap View Apple ID.

  • Tap Payment Information.

  • Change your information and tap Done.

  • After you change your payment information, the iTunes Store places an authorization hold on your credit card.
