Microsoft’s new job listing leaks more Windows Blue data

Windows Blue update rumor

We have had our share of rumors about the upcoming update from Microsoft for Windows 8 for computers, Windows Phone for smart phones, and Windows Server 2012. This update is the Windows Blue. The update is coming to both Windows Phone 8 devices and Windows 8 computers.

We had little proof that there is actual work going on in the company for these updates, but recently, we did get some proof. There were two new job posting on Microsoft’s website on the 15th of this month. The jobs are Software Development Engineer in Test and a Senior Development Lead. But that does not give us any insight. But the job description that came along with these two listings are our clues.

The job posting for the Software Development Engineer in Test stated that, “The Core Experience features are the centerpiece of the new Windows UI, representing most of what customers touch and see in the OS, including: the start screen; application lifecycle; windowing; and personalization. Windows Blue promises to build and improve upon these aspects of the OS, enhancing ease of use and the overall user experience on devices and PCs worldwide”. And it looks like the person who posted this did not know that the Windows Blue product was still inside the company. And if you look at this posting now, you will find that it has been changed to say just Windows.

Now, coming to the Senior Development Lead job posting, it read “As a development lead you will hire and manage a team of top-notch developers, be personally involved in designing and coding features, and work closely with PM and Test counterparts across multiple orgs to help realize the vision of building high quality excel app for Windows Phone Blue.” Here also we have the Windows Phone Blue, but unfortunately, this also has been changed. But we do have the hint that there is a new Excel app coming to the platform. Anyway, we are not going to see any of these any time soon, because the rumor release date of the Windows Blue update is some time in the third quarter of this year.
