AT&T Galaxy Note II Users Get Multi-Window Update, Galaxy S3 Sells for $79.99

AT&T Galaxy Note II now has multi-window feature

There is nothing in the world quite like a smartphone update that you can enjoy right around the holidays. With Christmas week still here and New Year’s ahead, some AT&T Galaxy Note II users will want to show off the coolness of their smartphones. It’s a matter of fact that if you can’t buy bigger presents or give the best jokes (or become the life of the party), just bring an awesome smartphone and let it do the “talking” for you. The Galaxy Note II is one of the best-selling Samsung smartphones on the market, having sold some few million copies since its debut just a few months ago. While it hasn’t quite caught up to the appeal of the Galaxy S3, it is worth the purchase if you love the Samsung smartphone designs, customizable widgets, and the Android OS.

The Galaxy Note II features a 5.5-inch viewing screen, not to mention a stylus pen, and continues Samsung’s “phablet” collection of phones that can be characterized as both phones and tablets.

Starting today, AT&T users will receive an over-the-air (OTA) update that brings with it a multi-window mode. The multi-window mode is a feature that allows a smartphone user to have two or more applications running at the same time. If you want to play a game while watching a YouTube video, you can create a split screen where the top half of the screen shows the YouTube video, the other half features your game from your Google Play downloads. The multi-window feature replaces the old “one application at a time” rule that would stop one application when you enabled another. The benefit of this is that you can do multiple operations at once (play a movie and send an email, for example) so that you can manage your time in a more efficient fashion than before. The multi-window feature is available for all AT&T Galaxy Note II users. If you do not see the update right away, wait around for it. While the update will roll out to AT&T users today, you may not receive it until a day or two from now.

Red AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3

While AT&T Galaxy Note II users are getting a multi-window update, the AT&T Galaxy S3 is now on sale through Amazon for $79.99—the largest discount on the hottest-selling smartphone of 2012 to date. The Galaxy S3 has sold over 30 million copies in the last six months and beat out the iPhone 4S for the most popular smartphone of 2012. The Galaxy S3 comes with a 4.8-inch viewing screen and can be purchased in mostly white or pebble blue, although there are other colors (java brown, red, titanium gray, etc.). It also comes with excellent features such as near field communication (NFC), S Beam, S Voice, palm swipe (a way to take screenshots with the side of your palm), and so on. Locked phones that require two-year contracts often slide in pricing when the company produces new smartphones and is looking to innovate even more in the New Year. If you are already under a two-year contract or are a returning customer, you are not eligible for the price. The $79.99 discount is only available for new customers. Returning customers will pay $99.99 for the popular device.

While the multi-window feature comes to AT&T Galaxy Note II users, AT&T Galaxy S3 users hope that their update is not too far behind.
